Exploring Color with Selvedge

I have been cutting off the selvedges of my fabric for awhile.  I have a couple of things I would like to make with them and this is the start of one of them.  The sample for the Exploring Color Class I will be teaching in February is a notebook with a Dresden plate flower on the front and the petals are the color wheel.  Sew, since this will be a quilting journal, I thought it would be fun to use the strips for it.  I then wrote sewing/quilting themed sayings on the sides of the manufacturing data.  Seriously-is that not cute? Ha!  I will have to make a solid cover as well so potential students won't be turned away because they didn't save 50 yards of B&W selvedges.

I also sewed 30 more block number 1 for the Bonnie hunter quilt.  I have decided to do half of the assignment which should give me enough for a nice fall table topper or wall hanging. 3"inch squares are killing me-there is no room for error and I have noticed that I will lose a few points on clue #1. 
I forgot to share what I got at the Back Country Quilters Christmas part White Elephant exchange-this baby was traded 2x before I got to take it home.  A very nice White Elephant I must say.

Almost a Quilt!

I needed to go to the Crazy 9 Patch yesterday to get some green for Sloanie's quilt.  A block for our 2014 opportunity quilt was turned in and given to me (I am coordinating the making of it) and instead of coming home and cutting out the green, I put together the middle of the quilt-It is going to be beautiful!

The panels are straight-it is just laying on a bed as my design wall is 3 layers deep:(.  I will embroider "Enchanted Autumn" under the house-don't think I will add the date there.

Then I found "24 Hours" on Netflix and watched 7 episodes while I almost finished sewing Sloanie's top together.  I had never watched the show and -except for the fact that it shows the darkest side of humanity-it kept me on the edge of my seat.

Today i am off with a friend to a $10.00 "What's New in sewing and quilting today" class that include's lunch at Poway sewing.  I wonder what they will try to sell us:)

Guy Woodward Museum Quilt Show

I worked the quilt show Friday and helped hang it last Wednesday.  we had about 20 come through the 2 hours I worked and they bought opportunity tickets for the quilt and seemed to enjoy the show.  We had 54 quilts not counting the antique quilts that the museum was displaying.  It was good! I worked on my Home Sweet Home while I waited.  I am on the LAST block-would sure like to get that one done-still have the embroidery of addresses and the border swags to applique-but the blocks are about done!

Janet Haas version of Mary Lou Weidman's pattern, Chicken Soup

I had a blurry picture of this quilt on the Back Country Quilter's blog and Mary Lou commented on it-I went running into the office exclaiming to my husband "Mary Lou Weidman read my blog!"  he gave me a very odd look and just said, "so?".  I felt like a groupie.  I am a MLW groupie-they are officially called Loonies and when I take her 2 day class this summer, I will buy the "looney" pin.  So there:)
