Christmas with Ava

How can one 23 pound little human who can't walk, talk or feed herself knock the stars out of alignment, capture all the hearts around her in her small fist, and cause grown, educated humans with the power of choice to act like ninnies to gain the attention of the little manipulator? Our new grandaughter held a command performance for the four days of our visit in the pacific northwest. She is the most amazing creature. A charmer, a ruler, a commedian and a trickster. I can not stand being this far from her presence.

A New Start for the 63rd time

January 1 is always a new start. We are programmed by our calendar, unfortunately, by Valentine's Day the resolutions are repealed, and the commitments contained in a list somewhere in a new journal-I have many. This year I make only 1 commitment-not to add anything to my life that has not been thoroughly prayed over. I don't care how intriguing it sounds-NOT ONE THING DONE SPONTANEOUSLY! I would also commit to removing a few things but they will fall off naturally as they are completed.

That will naturally allow more time for devotions, prayer, writing, excercise, organization, scrapbooking and quilting. I am not making a list or a resolution to do anything-only to feel badly later when I have "failed" again. I will just Not make my life busier than it already is without making sure the "thing" is from my Daddy.

Amen

The Writer's Digest Challenge: Write the word "To" and make a title of a poem-and then write it.

"To serve or not to serve" I am going to change the title to

Who do I Serve?

I am so busy
most of the time.
My life
has filled my clock
flowing over into tomorrow
like water seeping
under doors and filling
the room beyond.

Who am I serving
in my quest to fill
My day
and My night
and the breaths of moments
in between?
God has little access
to My calendar of days.

Who am I serving
with this constant
activity?
I am fulfilling
MY Need to be busy
for the kingdom-
Not God's desire
for my knees bent in silence.

Trusting God with my future, my dreams, my hopes, and desires. So far He has done a pretty amazing job. We have a beautiful, healthy grandaughter, i have a wonderful job as a high school counselor and an adjunct professor at a community college. My husband is perfect part of the time and bearable :) the rest of the time. I love life and my incredible friends and family. it is an abundant life. I would, however like to realize my dream of being a Christian women's speaker and write the several books I have in my heart. I'm trusting that if those desires are His for my life, he will make a way. if they do not come to fruition, I pray God will be glorified in the things I am doing now.

What to Write?

Well, a dilemma exists. i want to be a writer. I was encouraged to write a blog. I now find out that if i publish what i write on the blog, I can not publish it anywhere else. Hmmm. . .Catch 22 come to mind? So, I will no longer post Kitty escapades here as I really want to get the Kitty devotional published in my lifetime-you might say it is number 1 on my bucketlist. Well, maybe 2, retirement has to be number 1. So-what to write-that is the question. I feel like Julie in Julie and Julia except I really don't want to steam a lobster or attempt aspic. i could write about my granddaughter, Ava, but my son would have a problem with me posting info about his daughter on the web-he works in a nameless city in Internet security so he is ultra sensitive and ultra private. I could write about my deaf, blind dog, Sadie who is the sweetest dog ever-but she couldn't hear or see it so it wouldn't bless her so what would be the point. A writer with nothing to write. that is very sad. Any suggestions?
