Guy Woodward Museum Quilt Show

I worked the quilt show Friday and helped hang it last Wednesday.  we had about 20 come through the 2 hours I worked and they bought opportunity tickets for the quilt and seemed to enjoy the show.  We had 54 quilts not counting the antique quilts that the museum was displaying.  It was good! I worked on my Home Sweet Home while I waited.  I am on the LAST block-would sure like to get that one done-still have the embroidery of addresses and the border swags to applique-but the blocks are about done!

This was an interesting quilt-had some unexpected blocks in it

Janet Haas version of Mary Lou Weidman's pattern, Chicken Soup
I had a blurry picture of this quilt on the Back Country Quilter's blog and Mary Lou commented on it-I went running into the office exclaiming to my husband "Mary Lou Weidman read my blog!"  he gave me a very odd look and just said, "so?".  I felt like a groupie.  I am a MLW groupie-they are officially called Loonies and when I take her 2 day class this summer, I will buy the "looney" pin.  So there:)

Winner of C9P BOM

The Chicken and hearts quilt won the votes of the patrons for the BOM.  It was really beautifully done. I finished my oldest granddaughter's quilt for her new room.  I was hoping to have the curtains and dust ruffle done but my neck issue has not allowed that. I can only sew 1 to 2 hours a day.  I helped hang the quilts for the Ramona museum show today.  there are some lovely pieces. I will take pictures when I work on Friday.

This should make you smile:)

Not Sewing

Since my visit to Seattle I have not been sewing.  I strained my neck muscles on one side and have had company and a major allergy attack.  But today I need to do something!  I am going to start cutting out my granddaughter's quilts.  The pictures are from the entries for the BOM challege from the Crazy 9 Patch.  My blocks are still in a bag but I got some great Ideas to complete it.  I bought the dark brown/blue green combo.

This is my personal favorite but it was hard to choose-I really like several of them.

I like this a lot as well.  Like the extra cream border in each square.

I love this arrangement with the added embroidery (chicken and hearts)

Our guild choose a quilt to make for the 2014 show, but until someone steps up to oversee the making-I'm it.  I am going to start copying the applique on freezer paper as soon as I get permission from the author.

Mug Rug Swap

I signed up for the mug rug exchange before I knew I needed to go to Seattle for 2 weeks so I thought I had plenty of time to complete them.  They took longer than I planned but they are done with the deadline looming tomorrow.  I think they are really cute-I can't wait to get mine.  I will use them for my afternoon tea.  Going to the longarm rental tomorrow to rent a few hours on the machine.  I have the Le Moyne Star table topper and my friend has a queen size quilt.  We will be there awhile:)

Two Owls Rug Mug-The Patchsmith

I have made a decision to put away the pies and tarts quilt until I finish the Home Sweet Home-then I will pull it out for handwork at night.  I just have more projects going than I can stand-I want to get something completed!

I am learning a lot from the Dear Jane experience.  My tiny squares are definitely getting more accurate.  Spent 4 hours on Saturday to finish 2 squares-but they are almost perfect if I do say so myself. I used strip piecing-so much more accurate than individual blocks-faster too!

4 1/2 inch square Dear Jane Blocks-black/tan 9 block=3/4 in. and tan/cream=1/2 in

I also bought some Dear Jane material when I was in Seattle.

mostly 1880's/Civil war

And I had some favorite books spiraled so they can lay flat-under 4.00 each and so worth it for the books I use a lot!

Sleep deprived but happy

It has been a week and a half helping with the grands.  I have Sloan duty every other night and she is the noisiest baby I have ever heard.  Burping, snoring, growling, tooting and crying during the night.  She is a good baby in that she only cries when hungry or a filled diaper, but she is noisy.  I have bottles made, a wash in and my space cleaned up but I am still in my PJ's at 12 noon and I need a nap.  My sweet DIL has been able to catch up on some much needed sleep so she is feeling better.

Monday I was able to go on a field trip by myself, as my oldest grand was taken to the zoo with her cousins.  I went for a tour at Martingale Publishing and picked up 10 books-(I will be sharing:) They have a book room full of seconds and the book I really was hoping to get was "Out of the Box" by Mary Lou Weidman.  They had it and now I have it.  It was a requirement for the class I am taking with the author in July.  I have read it all the way through-a great book about the basics of creativity and fostering it in your life.

I also stopped by a quilt shop on the way in Mill Creek that was wonderful, Keepsake Cottage Fabrics.
What an amazing selection and very nice ladies to help you.  I picked up some more fabrics for my Dear Jane who is waiting for me at home.  I miss my husband, dog, friends, swimming, and sewing but am having a great visit.

My sleeping buddy, Jack-at least someone is getting some sleep!
