Last Meeting for the Year

I had a great time at Friendship Quilter's last night.  We have lovely ladies in our guild and I so appreciate their talents.  At the beginning of our year, back in September, we had a UFO Challenge.  Each participant put in 10.00 and submitted a list of 4 UFO's they wanted to finish.  Mine were pretty large except the Falling Leaves table runner.  The rest were Purple Maze, Home Sweet Home and Tedi's Quilt.  All pretty big finishes.  Next year I will think a little smaller.

The committee made us these cute badges to wear with a button for each submission-next year I will sew my buttons around the top.

Purple Maze on the bed
Quilted on the longarm that I rent-purple on back and green on the front
I had 4 tickets out of a jar of 200 and I won 2 prizes: A purple plastic storage case and an Ikea light that is wonderful.

I am pretty excited about class signups.  I have gotten a lot of positive feedback for the speakers I lined up for next year (Helene Knott, Bonnie Hunter (Debra Broyles grabbed her for us the year before), Julia Zglinic, Jan Krentz, Paricia Pepe, Sally Collins and Lenore Crawford; and the classes are already filling up.

Buried in Paperwork

I thought getting the contracts back in from the 7 speakers we are having next year at Friendship Quilters was the largest part of my job-HA! I finally finished the proposed budget yesterday and am about 1/4 done with the brochure.  Then I need to make and print up the sign-up forms and finish the gift bags and . . . However, it has been fun working with the board-a lovely group of ladies-and connecting with speakers I admire.  A lot of self imposed pressure hoping the guild will like them as much as I do. We are having: Helene Knott, Bonnie Hunter, Jan Krentz, Julia Zgliniec, Sally Collins, Patricia Pepe and Lenore Crawford.  I would love to see all of them but I am particularly bummed that I won't be able to see Lenore Crawford because of our proposed move.  She does the type of quilts I would love to do and hope to do in the future.

Since I don't have a WIP (except for the spray basted baby quilt) I will feature the dog of my heart.  She loves a ball more than any dog we have ever had.  I love our Lizzy.

After a long drought we are finally getting several days of rain-YAY!  We were planning a garage sale for Saturday, but I'd rather have the rain.

Prayer request: Our youngest granddaughter, Sloanie, is in ICU with a respiratory virus.  This is the 3rd or 4th time she has been hospitalized in the last year for respiratory issues.

Finished the tree-well, almost!

I finally got the tree done for Ali, I thought.  I had taken the binding off the quilted piece that the trees are attached to and added a striped border without measuring the dimensions to see if they were square-well, they aren't as you can see, the bottom left is longer than right.  So, today since I have a cold, I am going to correct it.  ARGHHHH!

Some stray threads still attached
On a happier note, i finished my first Christmas present.  I have been going to the same hair dresser for 20 years.  he and his wife have become friends and I will miss them when we move.  Since Bill is Irish, I made him a Celtic Christmas table topper.

This last week I went to a Kim Deihl workshop-what a lovely lady and excellent teacher.  Class was packed.  Since I was teacher's helper that day, I took orders from 14 women for sandwiches and salads at the Subway across the street.  Took me 1 1/2 hours to get orders filled and return proper change-yikes.  Luckily, not all 26 women wanted stuff!

A very full class

Some are using the colors of the original

And some are not!
Today:  Redo binding/square up wall hanging, prep for purse class tomorrow, take naps and drink water!
