Late Getting Started

Today is just beautiful here in So Cali.  About 72-74 with a nice breeze.  I have spent the morning watching a pair of red finches feed their peeping babies in the nest they make every year over our flloodlight above the garage door and repotting two ferns that I have had for over 10 years that had outgrown their pots-I split them about 5 years ago-now they are 3.  They grow really well on our patio because of the shade.

Then I had to admire our kitties who were waiting for a third breakfast.  The white calico, Bella, just had a tumor removed from her gumline and 8 teeth removed last month so she is wet food only-she is pretty happy about that.  The vet thinks the tumor will return as they could not get all of it and it is cancerous. $ 5,000.00 would pay for the radiation that "may" eradicate it.  We love our kitties, but, Bella has had 8 years of bliss out of her 9 yrs of life, as we rescued her and Bertha, who is 8, when Bertha was 8 weeks old. We are praying it doesn't come back, but if it does we will make her comfortable and keep on spoiling her until the end.

We lost a friend this week to lung cancer.  He was in our heart transplant support group and his new heart gave him 5 extra years of life.  He was pretty amazing-encouraging, loving, giving.  he did a lot with his five years.  Unfortunately, cancer is a side effect of organ transplant.  The drugs they have to take for life lowers the immune system and that is an environment that cancer thrives on.  We will miss Bob very much as he added so much to the group.

So, today I really am going to finish the middle.  I never get done what I think I am going to.  I did finish row 3 and 4 yesterday and it is all attached so, I think it would be reasonable to assume I can get row 5 done today and possibly cut out the borders.  If I don't get borders done today-there is tomorrow-either way I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel!

Better get in there and sew before it is time for my nap:)

Oh my, a lot going on at your house! The cats and the birds are so fortunate to have found a haven at your house. I am savoring the last precious days with one of my cats. I don't think it will be long.

The birds build those nests up high so we don't have a chance of photographing the babies. I usually have a robin nest nearby but haven't seen one yet this year.

I love that birdy nest! We have house finches and purple finches here in Tenn. - are yours one of those or do you have a different kind?

Your patio is fabulous with all those lovely potted plants.
